100 KILOWATTS OF INSTALLED POWER – GOVERNMENT HOLDS 70 PERCENT
100 kilowatts of installed power – government holds 70 percent
Horb am Neckar, Germany, August 28th, 2012. To date, the largest solar park not just in Estonia, but the Baltic region- works with solar tracking systems by DEGERenergie. 70 percent of this proof of concept project has been set up and operated by DEGERenergie’s partner OÜ Energy Smart and has been funded by the Estonian government. With more than 49,000 systems installed in 49 countries, DEGERenergie is the global market leader for solar tracking systems.
In the Energy Smart solar park in Võru (Southern Estonia), close to the Latvian border, eleven 9000 NT DEGERtraker systems are already installed. Each system is designed for a power of 9.000 watts peak, the solar park will thus have a total capacity of about 100 kilowatts peak.
Viido Polikarpus, director of Energy Smart: “We intend to show our country’s farmers how they can generate solar energy into the public grid instead of waiting for European agricultural subsidies, which have a dubious future anyway. Furthermore, we believe our long sub-arctic summer days are perfect for the generation from 300 degree tracked solar energy throughout the day. This is only possible with DEGERenergie tracking technology.”
With the success of our pilot project, Energy Smart managing partner Viido Polikarpus is convinced – Estonian farmers can even generate clean energy for Latvia during the summer months. “Our neighbour to the south gets the largest share of their energy from their own hydroelectric power plants which are lowest during the summer and are forced to supply their base load from the Russian grid. Within the scope of the EU program for cross-border energy supply, we in Estonia will have the opportunity to help Latvia become less dependent on Russian energy supply.
MLD tracking for optimum yield
The Energy Smart solar park will go operational in just a few weeks. Because Energy Smart is 70 percent Estonian government funded, high-ranking representatives from politics and business are expected to grace the opening ceremony. Among others, the operator is hoping president Toomas Hendrik Ilves will attend as well as the ambassadors from Latvia and Lithuania. In addition several of our EU parliamentarians, government parliamentarians and government ministers are also expected to attend.
Energy Smart has made it their objective to firmly establish solar energy in the Baltic states on a broad basis. In this quest, the company counts on DEGERenergie MLD technology. “Especially in Nordic countries with a low altitude of the sun and long days, MLD tracking is the best technology to achieve the maximum yield of energy generated from the sun,” says Viido Polikarpus. Energy Smart has already ordered additional DEGERtraker systems.
DEGERenergie is the global market leader for solar tracking systems. Worldwide, more than 49,000 DEGERenergie systems are installed in 49 countries. The company is represented in Spain, Greece and North America with its own subsidiaries and cooperates with local distribution and service partners in many countries worldwide. The patented DEGERenergie Maximum Light Detection (MLD) technology makes it possible to improve the energy yield of solar power plants by an average of 45 percent compared to fixed systems.
DEGERenergie is the leading manufacturer with the world’s largest product range of single and dual-axis solar tracking systems. The company’s market position is based on the unique patented Maximum Light Detection (MLD) technology developed by Artur Deger, which makes it possible to maximize the yield of solar power plants with an “intelligent” control. With the DEGERconecter, the solar modules are always aligned according to the brightest position in the sky with the highest energy yield. This way, the overall energy yield of solar power plants with MLD tracking is on average 45 percent higher than that of fixed systems and this difference is even more pronounced for peaks. With more than 49,000 systems installed in 49 countries, DEGERenergie is the global technological market leader. The company offers its customers all product related solutions – from the development and planning, production and sales to maintenance and service.
In its headquarters in Horb (Germany), its subsidiaries and supplier companies, DEGERenergie is currently employing a staff of nearly 400. The company was established in 1999 and in 2001 won the Inventor Award of the German state of Baden-Württemberg for the MLD control module DEGERconecter. In 2005, DEGERenergie opened its first subsidiary in Spain, followed by subsidiaries in the USA and Greece in 2009. Since summer 2011, production is also up and running in Australia. The company’s production sites are located in Germany, Australia, Canada and the USA. CEO is Artur Deger.
You can’t always rely on the weather. But you can rely on an intelligent control system from DEGERenergie.
